Communities is another form of the human societies congregations, arguing from a biological term a community is " body of people with something in common, e.g., district of residence, religion; joint ownership." (Webster Dictionary p.134). As from the sociological point of view: "a group of interacting people living in a common location. The word is often used to refer to a group that is organized around common values and is attributed with social cohesion within a shared geographical location, generally in social units larger than a household." Tönnies a German sociologist have identified two types of human association, Gemeinschaft, known as the community and the Gesellschaft known as society or association. Tönnies identified the differences and dismissed the Gemeinschaft as a tighter and more cohesive social substance because of the "unity of will" (Tönnies: Gemeinshaft und Gesllschaft p.22). Subsequently a family falls under the community. The Gesellschaft or association is when: "a group in which the individuals who make up that group are motivated to take part in the group purely by self-interest." (Wikipedia). According to American Association for the Advancement of Science the communities cohabitate by which "groups impose expectations and rules that make the behavior of members more predictable and that enable each group to function smoothly and retain its identity. The rules may be informal and conveyed by example, such as how to behave at a social gathering, or they may be written rules that are strictly enforced." (Science for all Americans.)
